Ekaterina Machavariani (Eka)

Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Ekaterina (Eka) Machavariani.

I've been passionate about solving math problems since I was a young kid. While in high school in Georgia, I participated in various math Olympiads and brought a Gold Medal from the International Mathematics Project Competition in 2005.

My commitment to the world of mathematics led me to the American University in Bulgaria, where I obtained my bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Economics. During my time at the university, I assumed leadership roles as the Chess Club President and the Representative of the Math Department within the student government.

However, my thirst for knowledge continued beyond the undergraduate level. I pursued a Master's Degree in Math at New York University, refining my mathematical skills to the highest standards. Today, I proudly serve as a part-time math instructor at the renowned institution for contest preparation, the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS), where I have the privilege of sharing my passion for mathematics with eager students.

Beyond the classroom, I've dedicated myself to privately preparing students for the challenges of Math Olympiads and providing Enrichment Math tutoring. To me, mathematics is more than just a subject; it's a lifelong passion that I'm committed to nurturing in others through diligent teaching and mentorship.

What parents say:

Ekaterina is thoughtfully guiding my son through his first AMC8 preparation. She assesses where knowledge is needed and where problem solving strategy is needed. My son is very much appreciating her tutoring as he is enjoying his growth.

Eun-Ah

My son just had his first AMC session with Ms. Ekaterina. She is very knowledgeable and able to explain math problems clearly. She is patient and approachable. We love her and will recommend her to anyone who is interested in AMC.

Wendy

Ekaterina is an excellent tutor. I am impressed at how patient she is, and one can see that homeschooling her child has influenced her style and made her more patient and caring than your average tutor. In addition, she has hands-on experience with Olympiads, as she has participated in many. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to improve their kids' AMC 8 results.

Stefan

Ekaterina is great. She is very responsive, and my daughter loves her way of teaching. Eka gives my daughter the right amount of homework and she is very good at explaining the questions.

Charlene

We started working with Ekaterina in early May. Since then, I've seen big improvements in my daughter's interests in math and her approach to problem-solve. Ekaterina continues to pique my daughter's curiosity and grow her ability to ask questions and analyze problems with positivity and clarity. To me, this is more important than test scores. I'd highly recommend her as a math tutor. From the 9-year-old - "Ekaterina is a great math tutor. She explains strategies and problems very clearly. She also motivates me. She encourages me to go beyond what I am comfortable with every time and improve."
